Indications: Celebrex is indicated by FDA to treat the following conditions:

• Rheumatoid Arthritis (swelling of lining in joints)
• Ankylosing Spondylitis(spinal arthritis)
• Osteoarthritis (ruptures in lining in joints)
• Acute pain
• Menstrual cramps and periodical menstrual pain (algomenorrhea)
• Colonic polyps(large intestine polyps)
• Rectal polyps (adenomatous Polyposis)

Celebrex is mostly used for long-term treatment. The ability to fight pain for celebrex was measured and is nearly the same as acetominophen's.

Arthritis: Arthritis - arthritis is joint inflammation. There are several types of arthritis amongst them some are treatable with Celebrex and some are not. During arthritis the patient can feel acute pain when moving or lifting heavy things, the joint loses its mobility and becomes inflamed, change its form, the skin above the joint becomes red, a fever can appear. If arthritis affects only one joint it is called monoarthritis, multiple - polyarthritis. There are several forms of arthritis: severe arthritis and chronic arthritis. The causes for arthritis development can be very different amongst them:

• Autoimmune illnesses
• Infections
• Allergy
• Change in joint nutrition
• Symptom of a completely different illness

Symptoms of arthritis are the following:

• Red and hot skin on the place of inflammation
• Morning stiffness
• Decreased mobility
• Joint deformation

Arthritis is a very widespread illness. Every man out of a hundred suffers from arthritis. The illness affects every age and gender but the highest percentage of people suffering from arthritis is in women of middle age and old people. 80% of people older then 65 suffer from arthritis. The risk factors for arthritis are:
Genetical: hereditary predisposition to joint pathology, female sex.

Menstrual cramps: Menstrual cramps - pain, weakness, nausea, headache such are the most common symptoms for menses. The statistical data states that such symptoms accompany the menstrual period of 2 out of 3 women. Many may feel that it is a common thing and does not need treatment, however scientists consider this an illness - algomenorrhea. Algomenorrhea can be caused not only by specific physical structure of a woman but also by a sever illness.
Algomenorrhea is one of the most common menses dysfunctions. IT can be found in 60-70% of women aged from 14-45 years old. The severest cases of algomenorrhea are found in teens. The pain syndrome is also sometimes accompanied by:

• in 84% with vomiting
• in 79% with diarrhea
• in 23% with dizziness
• in 16% with fainting
• in 13,5% with headaches

Commonly the pain starts 1-2 days before menses and stops on the 3-d day. Somw women on this days even lose the ability to work. The common symptoms of algomenorrhea that are treated with Celebrex are cramp-like, aching pains in the lower part of the abdomen in the waist and sacrum areas.

Polyps: Polyps - is a concept that indicates completely different pathological formations. The main idea that all of these formations are non-malignant accretions on the mucous membrane. Polyps can exist in any organ that has a mucous membrane for example in the stomach, intestines, rectum, uterus, urinary bladder.
NSAID's like Celebrex were used and approved for use in prevention of polyp formation in patients with genetic predisposition to the disease called familial adenomatus polyposis. If a large number of polyps does develop it in time can become an obstruction to food and later turn into a malignant tumor. The only cure for the tumor is surgical removal of an entire part of the column. Celecoxib is sometimes used and prescribed as secondary treatment for that indication.
The cause for polyp development is not completely known yet. But scientists suggest that it can be a result of chronic inflammation that sometimes takes place in the intestines.
